Meta title and meta description length

RANKit Meta titles & descriptions

The character targets RANKit uses and how long tags are trimmed.

RANKit sizes every meta tag for search results.

  • Meta title — the AI aims for 50–60 characters. Anything over 60 characters is shortened at a word boundary.
  • Meta description — the AI aims for 120–160 characters. Anything over 160 characters is shortened at a word boundary.

Why these lengths

Search engines cut long titles and descriptions in results. Staying within these ranges makes your snippet more likely to display in full, with the most important words first.

Very short descriptions are not kept: if the AI returns fewer than 50 characters, RANKit uses the start of the product description instead.
